How do acupuncture and rehabilitation work?
Acupuncture is the practice of inserting small, solid needles into the skin and underlying tissue in order to decrease pain and inflammation, and improve circulation and normal nervous system function.
The needles are sterile and flexible and insertion is typically painless. Many animals will become relaxed or fall asleep during their treatments!
Rehabilitation is the use of manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, and other modalities such as laser therapy, TENS, and PEMF to recover from an injury or manage chronic pain/weakness in conjunction with traditional pain management medications as well as nutritional supplements. Assistive devices such as harnesses, braces, or carts can also help animals regain their mobility.
What can be treated with acupuncture?
GI disease: IBD, colitis, chronic colic, gastric ulcers
